The 3rd trimester, week 37, is a time when the baby is almost fully developed. The baby’s length is approximately 47-49 cm, and the weight is around 2600 grams. Facial features are formed, and the cartilaginous tissues are in place. The baby starts accumulating more fat tissue, and muscles and the skeleton continue to develop actively, resulting in the baby gaining more weight each day.

The most important development at week 37 is the full formation of the lungs. By week 38, the baby will start practicing breathing movements. Developed lungs mean that in case of premature birth, your baby will be able to breathe without medical assistance.

What should the mother do at week 37?

First and foremost, visit your doctor to measure the pelvis circumference, weigh yourself, perform a general urine test, and measure blood pressure. Additionally, the condition of the cervix needs to be checked—these results will help estimate the approximate time of the onset of labor.

Regarding emotional state, pre-labor anxiety can cause worry or irritability, or it can elevate your mood to the skies.

Remember, the bag with everything you need for the hospital should always be at hand.

And soon, the most anticipated event in your life will happen.
